News From Room 5
April 2013
This month, we will finish our study of the alphabet! We will work on the letters “Xx”, “Yy”, and “Zz”, and will celebrate our accomplishment with a letter party on 4/22. We will have a special lunch and special treats for the children! The sign up sheet is posted outside the classroom. We will also celebrate the alphabet with our classroom alphabet quilt. More information about the quilt will be sent home this month.
Our themes this month are Food and Nutrition, April Showers, Spring, and Transportation.
After we finish working on the alphabet, we will learn to trace and write the numbers 0-10. We will also work on some beginning sight words, and will continue to review the letters and their sounds every day.
We are continuing to work on patterns (color/shape), number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence skills. The children are also practicing their handwriting every day and are learning to write some words.
